MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK ISTANBUL
Istanbul is usually known for it’s history, it’s contrasts and obviously it’s food. With the city’s unique personality and position, the diversity between east and west has influenced a lot of creatives through out the years. Lately Istanbul has started to pay a lot more attention to creative arts, including fashion, which makes us really excited because there is definitely a huge potential for Turkey to grow in this area.
One of our favourite magazines, Dazed and Confused teamed up with Mercedes-Benz to support Istanbul fashion week and covered the event on their website, introducing the world three of the upcoming designers in Turkey. Have a look at their videos and stories here.
Istanbul-born fashion designer Özlem Kaya studied fine art and textiles at Mimar Sinan University. While studying, she met Hakan Yıldırım and started her professional career with him. Six years later, after parting ways with Hakan in 2004, she opened her own atelier. She takes her inspiration from history and the development of mankind.
Ayhan Yetkin was born in Sinop in 1986. He studied at the Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Textiles and Fashion. In 2009, he won 1st place in the Lasalle International Fashion Design Competition in cooperation with Elle Magazine. He also won 3rd place in the ITHIB Fabric Design contest. He continues to prepare his own collections on a regular basis and is in the process of creating his own brand.
After studying 4 years Fashion & Textile design at Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Nihan Peker moved to Milan and got a masters degree in Istituto Marangoni. She has prepared collections to famous italian brands like Frankie Morello, Colmar and Furla. She was one of the finalists of the Swarovski Competition and her collection was shown at London, Paris and Milan fashion weeks. She established her own brand in 2008 and she now lives and works in Istanbul.

THE WINK
cara delevingne for i-d magazine
If you haven’t seen these by now, don’t be shocked because there is nothing wrong with having a tarantula on your eye. A pretty casual thing on a standard day. Also, don’t be surprised that, again, it’s Cara Delevingne in the photos. The Cara-effect has officially has hit every single magazine. For i-D’s latest fall/winter issue, each cover (there are 8) is featuring a wink; with stars closing their right eye. Karl Lagerfeld covered his with an eye patch, Kate Moss with a blunt fringe. But Cara!? She is the only model that can dress up like a hot dog and wear animal onesies and still look freaking good!

Nasty Gal Lookbook
Extreme volume, different textures and clever styling has made sportswear so fashion forward and sexy lately. Especially 80′s sportswear, and god knows how difficult it is to make the 80′s look hot! Now more than ever, big fashion names are collaborating with sportswear brands and every brand, every designer has a different take on sportswear. Nasty Gal’s recent collection is one of our favourite interpretations. Who knew liquid metallic blues and bold whites looked so good together!
