KAREN WALKER
And no, not the one from ‘Will&Grace’ (sorry we just had to make that joke)
New Zealand-born designer Karen Walker has built her success upon mixing elements. Rather than following mainstream trends, she takes extremes such as high-class with casual, and masculine with feminine.

CHANGEABILITY BY LUXIRARE
First of all, what an amazing name for a collection! And what a beautiful line of slinky clothes and accessories! Luxirare’s minimal cut, material choices and calm colour combinations are so successful. This collection is a true interpretation of mix and matching and glam-rock futurism. Extremely cool pieces, which are also wearable, not so over the top.

I AM A SKULL DESIGNER

LN-CC presents a range of beaded skulls from ‘Our Exquisite Corpse’, working in collaboration with the Huichoi people of Mexico. This project started with a passion for an art-form with heritage. The Huichol artisans have been working with beads for centuries, originally forging them from shells and seeds. Even today, their work retains religious and symbolic significance that transcends the vibrant beauty of the craftsmanship.
The Huichol people believe in the power of the Sun God, ancestor spirits and the four principle deities – Deer, Corn, Peyote and the Eagle. They live in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Western Mexico and habe a long history of creating beaded art. These unique beaded skulls are not only part of a limited collection, but remain a treasured piece of Huichol culture.

I HATE MY COLLECTION BUT I LOVE ST MARTINS
“Stress, exhaustion, sleepless nights and of course excitement of doing something so big and so meaningful. I have less than a year, 342 days precisely to make it happen. To get in touch with the world famous fashion designers, journalists, artists and rock stars to convenience them to talk to me about their student years in Saint Martins. The list is endless John Galliano, Christopher Kane, Gilbert and George, Stella McCartney, Jarvis Cocker and that’s only few of them let’s see who I can get …” Oleg Mitrofanov
Summer 2011. The new chapter of Central Saint Martins history starts. The historic and important college will move from its Soho site and join other branches of Central Saint Martins in a new purpose-built development in King’s Cross. As it is the end of an era for this legendary institution, Mitrofanov has made a documentary film about CSM.

Anyone who has ever been to any CSM building, would know that the toilets are always the craziest place! Also, don’t forget to visit the blog about the video and interviews. Really cool photos of previous graduates.
CURIO NOIR
Tiffany Jeans is the face behind Curio Noir, a line of hand-crafted unique curios described as ‘slightly arcane but laced with a bespoke beauty’. Inspired by the mystique of fables and fairy tales, Jeans has parlayed her eye for design and interest in the arcane into producing The Lilith Doll, The Skull and The Tree; each of them a one of a kind wax figurine.
We can easily imagine having those creepy but beautiful accessorise in our homes. We loved the contrast between the pale and the dark colours. And even if we’ve seen so many sculls before, with all the 90s grunge style coming through, Jeans has still managed to make then look unique.
Hand poured using organic wax, no two will be the same. It’s an absolute labour of love for Tiffany, who stocks a handful of retailers including Zambesi and Miss Crabb. Slightly macabre, chillingly innocent and very beautiful, this is just the beginning – Tiffany has other ideas for the brand but it’s starting slowly, one step at a time.
